APNI is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Human Resources Manager for its HQ office in Benguérir.

About the African Plant Nutrition Institute

Launched in 2019, the African Plant Nutrition Institute is a not-for-profit research and development institute based in Benguérir, Morocco. The institute works to develop and promote sustainable plant nutrition management practices and innovation through research, education, and outreach. It has active research projects in East, West, and North Africa. It currently has four offices across Africa.

This new position offers the opportunity to join a rapidly growing team dedicated to improving farmer livelihood through proper crop nutrition.

Terms of Reference

Location: APNI HQ offices in Benguérir at the Experimental Farm of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) Campus

Reports to: APNI Director of Operations, with oversight by the APNI Management Committee

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist management in the recruiting of staff including the selection and interviewing of candidates
  • Prepare staff contracts including temporary staff (interns, consultants, Ph.D. students, etc.)
  • Track terms of contracts (remuneration, end dates, etc.)
  • Manage the onboarding and orientation process for new staff
  • Apply and enforce HR policy found in the Employee manual, and as directed by management
  • Maintain staff profiles and information in the HR management system (BambooHR)
  • Prepare monthly payroll for processing by finance department
  • Track staff leave time and attendance
  • Process staff mission orders
  • Ensure compliance with the labor code
  • Assist in updating and formulating HR policies when necessary
  • Prepare staff evaluation summaries for management
  • Obtain work permits and residence cards for ex-pat staff
  • Provide training on policies or general HR topics to staff
  • Establish a supportive culture and work environment
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality in Institute HR matters

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in Human Resource management or related fields
  • 5+ years of experience working in HR management
  • Willingness and flexibility to work individually and as part of a team
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential
  • Ability to work in a multi-national/multicultural environment is essential
  • Ability to complete assignments timely with thorough attention to accuracy
