APNI is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Human Resources Manager for its HQ office in Benguérir.

About the African Plant Nutrition Institute
APNI is a not-for-profit research and development Institute based in Benguérir, Morocco. The Institute works to develop and promote sustainable plant nutrition management practices and innovation through research, education, and outreach. It has active research projects in East, West, and North Africa. APNI was launched in 2019 and this new position offers the opportunity to join a rapidly growing team that is dedicated to improving farmer livelihood through proper crop nutrition. It currently has four offices across Africa.

Terms of Reference
Location: APNI HQ offices in Benguérir at the Experimental Farm of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) Campus with regular travel to APNI regional offices. Reports to: APNI Director of Operations, with oversight by the APNI Management Committee

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement human resources strategies and initiatives aligned with the institute’s objectives.
  2. Respond to requests from project managers and unit leaders on HR practices.
  3. Talent acquisition for all sites through Africa – sourcing, selection and onboarding.
  4. Contracting – including temporary staff (interns, consultants, Ph.D. students, etc.)
  5. Track terms of contracts (remuneration, end dates, etc.)
  6. Apply and enforce HR policy found in the Employee manual, and as directed by management
  7. Maintain staff profiles and information in the HR management system (BambooHR)
  8. Prepare monthly payroll for processing by finance department
  9. Ensure compliance with the labor code
  10. Establish and implement annual appraisals and performance reviews
  11. Establish training programs – Training needs assessment, CFCs, continuous learning, and evaluation.
  12. Admin management – internal staff interaction platforms, Work permits, Residency cards, and international staff onboarding.
  13. Assist in updating and formulating HR policies when necessary
  14. Establish a supportive culture and work environment
  15. Maintain absolute confidentiality in Institute HR matters

Qualifications and Experience

  1. University degree in Human Resource management or related fields
  2. 5+ years of experience working in HR management
  3. Willingness and flexibility to work individually and as part of a team
  4. Fluency in English, French and Arabic (written and spoken) is a must
  5. Ability to work in a multi-national/multicultural environment is essential
  6. Ability to complete assignments timely with thorough attention to accuracy
