Dr. Kaushik Majumdar is Director General for the African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI). He is based in Morocco at the Benguérir headquarters.
Kaushik, a native of India, obtained his M.Sc. degree in Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science from BCKV University, India. He received his Ph.D. in Soil Mineralogy/Soil Chemistry from Rutgers University, USA. Dr. Majumdar has worked as a Soil Mineralogist at the Potash Research Institute of India (PRII), and later, as the Deputy Director of Eastern India and Bangladesh for the Potash & Phosphate Institute of Canada-India Programme; and as the Director, South Asia Program of International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI).
Prior to joining APNI, Dr. Majumdar served as IPNI Vice President, Asia and Africa Programs, located at Gurgaon, India. In this role, Dr. Majumdar oversaw a talented team of professionals leading plant nutrient management research and education initiatives with the support of the global fertilizer industry. Dr. Majumdar enjoys working in the multi-cultural and multi-stakeholder environment that foster strong partnerships and resource mobilization to transform the fertilizer sector through research, extension and capacity building. Dr. Majumdar has developed several fertilizer decision support tools, technical bulletins and training aids, and has numerous national and international scientific publications.
