New Rice Guide Added to 4R Nutrient Management Series for Northern Ghana
APNI has jointly published with the CSIR – Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) a new guide for rice farmers in Northern Ghana focused on 4R nutrient management and best agronomic practices for the region’s rice cropping system.
The publication is made possible through the support of the implementing partners of the 4R Solution Project (Fertilizer Canada, Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada, Global Affairs Canada, Plant Nutrition Canada, and APNI).
Designed as a practical agronomic field guide, this booklet steps through site-specific guidelines for rice cultivation in the northern Ghana region. Sections in the guide cover aspects of land preparation, seed selection and seeding rate, planting, the 4Rs (right source, rate, time and place) of fertilizer application, weed, pest, and disease management, water management, harvesting and milling, and common nutrient deficiencies.
